Birmingham Nursery Schools Collaboration Trust (BNSCT)

The Trust was established in 2015 and brings together 27 Maintained Nursery Schools to fulfil its charitable purposes of advancement of education for children in early years (birth to 7 years) by:

  1. promoting their care and safety;

  2. promoting their education and parental involvement;

  3. providing services to support them and their families and carers.

Headteachers and leaders from the Maintained Nursery Schools are proactive in seeking out opportunities to secure funding and build effective partnerships to meet these objectives.

Birmingham Early Years Networks

Through the partnership with Birmingham City Council, we provide leadership to the Birmingham Early Years Networks [BEYN], offering professional development, and support to other practitioners to advance quality in all setting who work with children under five.

Now You’re Talking Birmingham, a partnership with the heath service in Birmingham, has an explicit focus on supporting children’s communication and language development.  This project and associated webpages, offers advice and support for both practitioners and families.

50 Things to do Before You’re 5 in Birmingham

We also support families of children under 5 through our 50 Things to do Before You’re Five in Birmingham project, part funded by the Family Hub initiative.

Early Years Developing Local Provision

Early Years Developing Local Provision is a project focussed on enhancing inclusive practice across the city. It builds on the BEYN district model with headteachers from the BNSCT working in partnership with other services and organisations in their district to lead this work.

HEART – Early Years Strong Practice Hub

The HEART - Early Years Stronger Practice Hub, part of the DfE Covid 19 recovery programme, offers enhanced opportunities to practitioners in Birmingham and across the West Midlands and is led by members of the BNSCT.
