Loose Parts Play for Rich Communication with Debi Keyte-Hartland

Close up a spread of natural loose parts resources and a young childs hands as they use their fingers to crush natural materials into a small pottery dish.

**Exclusively for Birmingham Early Years Practitioners** - A session led by Debi Keyte-Hartland on loose parts; how they support early learning, and how to curate them to maximise children’s creativity and communication.

Loose Parts play offers a rich, open-ended approach in the Early Years Foundation Stage, which encourages babies, toddlers and young children to explore, create, and express themselves.

By providing a diversity of materials that can be adapted and combined in countless ways, early years practitioners can foster and amplify contexts for sustained shared thinking, collaborative problem solving, and language and communication.

This creative way of working supports meaningful conversations, descriptive vocabulary, and deeper thinking across the EYFS educational programmes, helping children develop vital communication skills in a playful, responsive environment guided by knowledgeable adults.

In this 90-minute webinar, you will:

  • Find out how loose parts and found materials can be used by babies, toddlers and young children as a material to ‘think and express/communicate’ with.

  • Discover how to curate and organise loose parts and found objects (inside and out) that maximise and amplify learning potential.

  • Explore the theory of loose parts and how this relates to creative thinking, language and communication and principles of practice in the early years.

Important notice: This session is exclusively for practitioners working in Birmingham Local Authority. Please ensure you complete the booking form fully to ensure your booking is accepted.
