Who We Are
Birmingham Early Years Networks is a professional learning community—rooted in local context, responsive to children’s needs, and aligned with Birmingham's Best Start in Life Strategy.
Practitioners engage with current research, explore high-impact pedagogies, and reflect on what quality looks like in real settings, for real children.
The Birmingham Early Years Networks approach is one that celebrates professional curiosity, nurtures reflective practice, and ensures that every child in Birmingham experiences high‑quality early education from the very star.
Birmingham’s Early Years Networks are built on a simple but powerful belief: quality improves when practitioners learn together, reflect together, and act together.
What We Do
We provide a comprehensive range of professional development and learning opportunities at three strands — universal, enhanced, and bespoke — ensuring that every individual can access the right support to grow, every setting is strengthened in its practice, and every district and cluster builds effective professional partnerships and collaboration focused on securing the best outcomes for every child.
We work with partners and organisations to share information and analyse data. This helps us plan effectively, avoid duplication, use resources wisely, and provide a clear, coordinated offer to early years practitioners across the sector, supporting all partners to achieve our shared goals.
How We Work
BEYN operates across 10 Birmingham districts, based on Parliamentary constituencies, organised into three clusters to ensure local relevance and strong professional partnerships.
North Cluster

Central & East Cluster
Ladywood • Hodge Hill & Solihull North • Yardley
BEYN is led by the Birmingham Nursery Schools Collaboration (BNSC) and is funded by the Birmingham Early Years and Childcare Service.
Our model combines a central team with cluster‑based Early Education Advisors.
Our work is guided by our district steering group partners and monitored by the BEYN Strategic Group.
