FACE-TO-FACE WORKSHOP: Diverse Beginnings - Enhancing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Early Years & Childcare Settings, led by Birmingham City Council Early Years & Childcare Service
Improved for 2026-27, this engaging and reflective workshop supports early years and childcare professionals to embed equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging across all aspects of practice.

Delegates will:
Explore how equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging can be embedded throughout leadership, policies, environments and everyday practice.
Develop a deeper understanding of intersectionality and recognising the whole child, considering how factors such as SEND, culture, language, family circumstances and socioeconomic disadvantage can influence children's experiences.
Reflect on the impact of representation, unconscious bias, microaggressions and assumptions on children, families and colleagues.
Increase understanding of the Equality Act 2010, including the anticipatory duty to make reasonable adjustments.
Explore protected characteristics, allyship and belonging, and consider how practitioners can actively promote inclusive and equitable experiences for all.
Share experiences and learn alongside colleagues in a supportive environment that encourages professional reflection and discussion.
Access practical tools, local support and resources to help embed learning within their own setting.
This in-person workshop is suitable for practitioners, leaders and managers who are committed to creating environments where every child, family and colleague feels valued, included and able to thrive.
NOTE: Pre-session reading material will be provided to establish a shared understanding of key concepts and support meaningful discussion during the workshop.
