Keeping Children Safe - Practical Risk Assessment in the Early Years: Interactive Workshop led by Birmingham City Council Early Years & Childcare Service
This interactive workshop will help early years and childcare providers confidently identify and manage risks while supporting children's safety, wellbeing and learning.
Participants will explore statutory requirements, learn how to recognise hazards, assess risk and apply proportionate control measures in a way that is practical and relevant to their setting.
The workshop will cover:
Risk assessment requirements within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework and health and safety legislation
Identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing effective control measures
Child-specific, environmental and activity-based approaches to risk management
Real-life case studies, practical examples and reflective discussions
Embedding a positive culture of risk awareness and safe practice across the setting
This session will provide practical strategies and professional insights to support safer environments and confident decision-making.
Target audience: Childminders, nursery managers, leaders, and practitioners.
